Focus is the key

Young, and older athletes, make the mistake of focussing on the end result of their action instead of the process of performing the action. For example when shooting the ball many athletes are at fault for diverting their attention to the result (scoring or missing). This creates a lack of focus on the mechanics of performing the task and produces unwanted anxiety, and both factors will negatively impact the end result. Therefore, this weeks tip is to practice focussing on performing the skill and let the outcome take care of itself.
